POSITION:                            Health Informatics Specialist

DEPARTMENT:        Information Technology

HOURS:                     Full time

JOB SUMMARY:      Assists with the implementation of technology in a health care setting.  Facilitates communication between IT, vendors, and staff regarding clinical IT applications. Responsible for training staff and creating educational documents for any systems and procedures. Responsible for troubleshooting and assisting staff when problems arise. Assists IT Director with systems operations.  Serves as a resource for staff for general computer use.  Rotates on-call hours nights and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate’s degree in clinical field (Nursing, Radiology, Respiratory, or other) preferred, additional training in computer software applications preferred but not required.

POSITION:                 Utilization Review Coordinator

HOURS:                      Part time

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: To monitor adherence to the hospital’s utilization review plan to ensure the effective and efficient use of hospital services. To monitor the appropriateness of hospital admissions and extended hospitals stays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Establishes and maintains efficient methods of ensuring the medical necessity and appropriateness of all hospital admissions. Performs concurrent reviews for patients to ensure that extended stays are medically justified and are so documented in patient’s medical records. Coordinates and supervises the activities of the Utilization Review Department. Using the PAS Length of Stay as a guideline, calculates the lengths of stay and continued-stay days for patients. Refers to the Utilization Review Physician Advisor all cases that do not meet established guidelines for admission or continued stay. Assists the Utilization Review Committee in the assessment and solution of identified utilization review problems. Identifies problems related to the quality of patient care and refers such problems to the Quality Assurance Committee. Maintains a liaison with the Social Service Department to facilitate timely discharge planning. Compiles monthly reports and statistics for presentation to the Utilization Review Committee. III.

JOB TITLE: Patient Financial Services Director

DEPARTMENT: Patient Financial Services

JOB REQUIREMENTS: BS in Healthcare Management, Business, or equivalent required.

DUTIES:

  • Oversees and manages all aspects of the patient revenue cycle, including patient registration, insurance benefits/eligibility verification, OP procedure authorizations and centralized scheduling, charge/revenue capture, claim billing and follow up, denial management, and over all accounts receivable management.
  • Develops and implements performance improvement practices and goals to secure desired results, monitor performance, and achieve optimal performance.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of payer and regulatory billing policies, rules, and guidelines, implements and communicates to staff members.
  • Maintain working knowledge of charge master compliance to include CPT codes and appropriate charging policies and procedures.
  • Maintain departmental policy and procedures for all areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for daily management of personnel in areas of responsibility to include hiring, discharging, counseling, training, and development.
  • Responsible for benchmarks for accounts receivable and works with staff to attain.
  • Monitors unbilled accounts to ensure timeliness of submission to insurance companies or patient billing.
  • Directs the charge master/revenue cycle team to include audit processes for revenue capture, appropriate billing, and compliance.
  • Works with other department managers as needed.
  • Prepares budgets for areas of responsibility.
