TITLE:                                    Surgical Technologist

DEPARTMENT:                  Surgery

JOB SUMMARY:                               A certified surgical technologist is a member of the surgical team who works with surgeons, certified registered nurse anesthetists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:          Graduate of a surgical technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) or another avenue of entry otherwise acceptable to the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist.

Licensure:           Certification is conferred by the Liaison Council on Certification, the certifying body of the Association of Surgical Technologists, Inc., by passing the national certifying examination.  Certification is maintained by completing 15 contact hours of approved continuing education annually pursuit to ten. Code Ann 68-57-101.

*Certification Preferred, not required

Experience:        Must demonstrate application of knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and other cognitive education with additional education in the use of surgical instruments on tissues versus the handling of instruments.  The form of this training may be through a formal education program, continuing education, preceptorship, or any combination of these methods.

Age of Patients Served:                 Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric populations

Physical and Mental Demands: Required to stand, bend, lift, squat, reach above head, lift and carry equipment.  Includes the ability to stand and walk 80% of the time during duty shift.  Able to visualize changes in patient conditions such as levels of consciousness, skin color, breath sounds, heart sounds, vital signs, and ability to distinguish abnormal odors.  Must be able to hear and comprehend surgeon’s requests, and rapidly respond to emergency signals and situations.  Manual dexterity to operate patient care equipment.  Work requires a high level of mental concentration and alertness for extended periods of time while surgery is being performed.

Travel:  None required

Working Conditions:      Work is performed in a surgical care setting; conditions range from moderate to high degree of disagreeable features.  Exposure to odors, materials, chemicals and infectious agents are encountered daily.  Work is performed with surgical instruments and other sharps.  Must utilize standard precautions at all times.  Practice of principles of asepsis and sterile technique are critical to maintaining appropriate care environment.

Principle Contacts:          Surgeon and surgery personnel must communicate as a team in the performance of work.   Discusses and plans care with nursing and other patient care staff.  Accurate and timely relay of information is critical.  Confidentiality of patient information must be maintained.  Demonstrates skills to communicate and work as part of a patient care team.

Complexity of Duties:    Work requires judgment in the application of broad aspects of established practices and procedures to problems and situations not falling clearly or concisely within the limitations of accepted standards or precedents.  Discusses problem situations with other members of the health care team and adopts or modifies approaches to meet patient needs.

The Receptionist is a vital part of the team in the delivery of primary care in an

Additionally, they will collect demographic and financial information.

POSITION:                 Discharge Analyst/ROI Specialist                 

 

DEPARTMENT:        Health Information Management (HIM)

 

HOURS:                     Full-time

 

JOB SUMMARY:      Responsible for processing records on all discharged inpatient, observation, and outpatient surgery patients.  Responsible for Release of Information.  Answers phones in a timely manner with a customer friendly attitude.  Answers internal and external requests from authorized agents for release of medical information.  Works with established routine policies and procedure.  Familiar with offsite storage processes. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. High School Diploma required.

 

  1. At least two years of general clerical experience.

 

  1. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

 

  1. Must be able to be an active member of the HIS team and work in a continuous quality improvement environment. Always maintains strict confidentiality.

 

  1. Specialized knowledge in Release of Information and knowledge of hospital terminal digit filing both preferred.

POSITION:               Billing/Credentialing Specialist – RMC Physician Group

 

HOURS:                     Full-Time

 

JOB SUMMARY:    The primary duty for this position is to submit claims to insurance payers accurately and timely.  Other duties include billing secondary insurance, correcting denied claims in a timely manner, self pay collections and bad debt, separately billing Medicare and TN Care for a rural health facility and insurance credentialing.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Must be a high school graduate – some college courses preferred.

 

  1. A minimum of 3 years-experience in a primary care practice billing and collections, hospital registration and/or business office. Certified biller/coder preferred.

 

  1. Working knowledge of insurance payers along with their varying rules and regulations, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes and CPT codes preferred.

 

  1. EMR experience required with knowledge of electronic claims flow through a clearinghouse.

 

  1. Employee must be able to proficiently work on a computer and various software programs including Microsoft Office.

 

  1. Must be able to multi-task and obtain a high level of organizational skills.

 

  1. Must have excellent customer service skills, as you will be required to speak to patients about their account as well as insurance representatives regarding denied claims, credentialing, etc.

POSITION:                              Referral Coordinator    

 

DEPARTMENT:          Physician Group – Spring City location

 

HOURS:        Full Time

                                   

 SUMMARY:

The Referral Coordinator is a vital part of the team in the delivery of

primary care in a physician’s office setting.

 

 

The Referral Coordinator works under the supervision of the Practice Manager.

 

 

They are responsible for managing all referrals for Rhea Medical Physicians Group and backing up the receptionist as needed,

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

 

Education: High school graduate, college preferred.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Experience: Previous experience in physician office setting. Knowledge of Electronic Health Record and the various insurance company rules and regulations preferred. Insurance Referral experience required, Insurance and Prior Authorization experience recommended, but not required.

 

 

 

Skills: Ability to communicate with doctors, patients, and visitors.  The employee 

 

must demonstrate the knowledge and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the
